MOUNTAIN WORKSHOP IN ARMENIA

NATURAL PIGMENTS

TAKE A SHEPHERD PATHS TO ANCIENT TEMPLES, COLLECT PIGMENTS AND PAINT FRESCOES

working with natural materials in the mountains

the workshop consists of two days. we will hike to the mountains on the first day and work in a highland location on the next. in the mountains we will visit ancient temples and collect earths and minerals to create pigments and frescoes. there will be several stops along the routes where we will talk about the principles of ancient art and the nature of pigments. We will work with the materials we have collected in the mountains, make natural paints according to the 13th century recipe and paint a small mural that we can take with us. in two days we will visit two mountain routes that pass through medieval temples and ancient mountain villages

 

this workshop has an individual approach, designed for one or two people. the possibility of a workshop for a family or a small group can be clarified via the application form below

HIKE TO THE MOUNTAINS

DAY ONE

our trails lie in the mountainous province of Lori, the most picturesque one in Armenia. the hike takes all day, we will walk 10-15 kilometers. we will see ancient churches and villages and collect raw materials for pigments

WORKING IN THE MOUNTAINS

DAY TWO

the next day we will go to a quiet and comfortable place in a mountain location to work with the materials collected on the first day. we will make colors from earths and minerals and turn to the ancient technology of fresco painting. in the process we will interact with natural objects and the landscape

artist and director. i experiment with natural materials in sculpture, mosaics, frescoes, rock painting, enamel on copper. i curate exhibitions and give lectures on the principles of ancient art

the workshop is led by zhenya and natasha, the curators of the "tseh knigi"

theater artist and musician. i am engaged in poetic and musical improvisation. i work with wood and mosaics and create musical instruments from found objects
